Good but too much of an apology for the period, November 3, 2010

This review is from: The History of England from the Norman Conquest to the Death of John (1066-1216) (Kindle Edition)

I could have liked this book a lot EXCEPT there seems to be an apologist tone that permeates the work, especially with the idea that the Battle of Hastings brought England into the fold of the Catholic Church and the continental European world view, rather than a Scandinavian sphere of influence. Cold comfort to the English people who lost their status and fathers or sons on the battlefield.
